Spain: Port of Barcelona to Host Sino European Conference 2013

Port of Barcelona to Host Sino European Conference 2013

The Port of Barcelona will host the next Sino European Freight Forwarders Conference, from 18 to 21 June 2013, which will bring together executives and senior managers of logistics and transport companies, mainly from China and Europe, but also from the rest of the world.

Barcelona, which will be hosting this event for the second time, and will continue to do so in 2015 and 2018, has consolidated its role as the continental hub of the event and as one of the meeting points for the global freight forwarders’ network.

The Sino European Conference is the European event of the Sino-International Freight Forwarders Conference, the leading global meet-up for freight forwarders organised annually by China International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFA), with the collaboration of the WCA Family of Logistic Networks (WCAF). The previous Sino Conferences, held in China, brought together 1,600 freight industry representatives from around the world, and more than 70,000 business meetings were held.

The Port of Barcelona, which has sponsored the Sino-International Freight Forwarders Conference since 2009, is the only port in the world to have attended this great event of Chinese and world freight forwarders in recent years. This participation has provided the Port with an opportunity to explain to this highly qualified audience its privileged position with regard to goods flows to and from Asia – in terms of geographic location, regular shipping lines, hinterland, and so on – and the crucial aspects that differentiate Barcelona from other ports in the area, such as the enlargement of its container terminals, the new Efficiency Network quality seal, or the facilities offered by the Port’s new Border Inspection Post (BIP).

320 participants signed up for the edition of the Sino European Conference held in Barcelona from 13 to 16 June 2010, and 15,000 bilateral meetings were held. More than 500 participants are expected to enrol for the 2013 event, organised in collaboration with the Barcelona International Forwarders Association (ATEIA).
