Spokane Valley Shoreline Program Under Review

A program to manage shorelines in the city of Spokane Valley will open for comment through the Washington Department of Ecology on April 20.

Spokane Valley’s proposed shoreline program will guide construction, development and maintenance activities on shorelines of Shelly Lake and the Spokane River within the city limits.

A portion of the shoreline managed by the city’s program contains a segment of the Spokane River Centennial Trail, a 37.5-mile trail that begins at the Washington/Idaho border and ends at Nine Mile Falls.

The public can comment through May 20, 2015. After approval from Ecology, the shoreline program will become part of the overall state shoreline program.
