Spotted: Five eRTGs Arriving at Port of Savannah

Georgia’s Port of Savannah received five electric rubber-tired gantry (eRTG) cranes that were delivered on a multipurpose vessel on July 1.

This brings the current number of eRTGs on terminal to 141. In addition, Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) expects this number to be 146 by August 31.

With the increases in our container business, and the massive deliveries from Neopanamax vessels, maintaining capacity at least 20 percent over demand keeps the Port of Savannah free of congestion,” GPA Executive Director Griff Lynch said.

The new electric rubber-tired gantry cranes continue GPA’s transition from diesel- to cleaner, electric-powered container handling equipment, GPA said.
