Garden State, the ECO Class tanker being built for American Petroleum Tankers (APT) by General Dynamics NASSCO, set sail for trials along the coast of California on July 15.

Following a series of tests, the Garden State will be back in NASSCO’s San Diego yard and ready for delivery later this month, the shipbuilder said.

The ship is the third of five tankers within the contract between NASSCO and APT, which calls for the design and construction of five 50,000 dwt, LNG-conversion-ready product carriers with a 330,000 barrel cargo capacity.

The Garden State was launched and christened on May 7.

Similar to other ships from the same series, the Garden State will join the Jones Act fleet to obtain a PMA+ Notation.
