Spotted: Siem Daya 2 Powers Up at Kristiansand

In today’s article we spotted for you Siem’s offshore support vessel Siem Daya 2 taking a breather in snow-clad Norway.

The offshore support vessel is the first ship to connect to the new shore power facility in Kristiansand port.

The port received its shore power plants supplying up to 1200 kVA adapted for offshore calls and rigging in autumn 2015. The facility is equipped with a converter and transformer to enable technical changes to various types of ships. However, this is the first time a ship has plugged into it.

The 2013-built Siem Daya 2 is designed for subsea operations such as construction and installation work, inspection and maintenance. The vessel is of clean design, has particularly good seakeeping abilities, station keeping performance and is able to keep a high transit speed. Its design incorporates environmentally-friendly features such as low fuel consumption through its diesel electric machinery.
