Sri Lanka Naval Vessels Apprehend Six Indian Trawlers

Naval Vessels P 484 and P 485 attached to the Eastern Naval Command on routine patrol apprehended 43 Indian fishermen and 06 Indian trawlers found poaching in the seas north of Pulmudai on 24th January 2012.

The SLN personnel made the apprehension after detecting the Indian fishermen pouching Sri Lankan Waters. The apprehended Indian trawlers were brought to the Trincomalee Harbour to be handed over to Trincomalee Harbour Police after preliminary investigations for legal action.

Sri Lanka Navy conducts routine patrols and apprehends poaching detected illegally fishing in Sri Lankan Waters in order to protect the country’s fisheries resources.
