State-of-the-Art R&D Center for Warships Opened

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), one of the world’s top shipbuilders, yesterday opened a new state-of-the-art research and development center.

Around 80 guests attended the opening ceremony for S. Korea’s first ever R&D center for warships.

Mr. Ko Jae-Ho, the Chief Executive of DSME at the opening said: “We expect the studies at the center to help strengthen our competitiveness in technology used to build warships”.

The center is comprised of 50 researchers in four groups, who will conduct studies on submarines and warships, reported Yonhap news agency. The number of researchers will be increased by 50 percent by 2015.
