Statoil Hires Apply Sørco for Works on Troll C Platform (Norway)

Apply Sørco has been awarded the contract by Statoil for the conversion of one of the main generating gas turbines on Troll C to a low NOx turbine. The upgrade is an environmental measure to reduce NOx emissions from the platform.

The contract is valued at approximately 270 million NOK and includes the installation of a water treatment plant that demineralises and softens seawater for injection into the turbine. In addition the contract includes upgrading of the turbine itself and its control system.

“It is very satisfying that we again have the confidence of Statoil and this exciting project builds on our previous water treatment experience. The project uses Wet Low NOx Water Injection (WLN) technology that we look forward to implementing on the Troll C platform, and this may provide important opportunities in the future,” says Frederik Hvistendahl, Managing Director of Apply Sørco.

Work will start immediately at the company’s main office in Stavanger and will continue until March 2014. The installation work offshore is planned to start in August 2013. In total, the project will involve around 130 people in our organization and especially the offshore work will provide an important activity for our organization in the North.
