Statoil's ‘Statfjord A’ Undergoes Inspection

On 7 November and 19-22 November 2013, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of the control and management of materials handling and technical condition of lifting equipment at Statoil Petroleum AS (Statoil) and the company’s management of lifting equipment maintenance at Statfjord A platform.

The objective of the audit was to verify that the company’s control and management of materials handling and technical condition of lifting equipment and lifting operations, and the company’s management of lifting equipment maintenance at Statfjord A were in compliance with the regulations.

Non-conformities were identified in connection with:

– guardrails

– technical condition of offshore cranes

– operating procedures

– materials handling plan

– maintenance of offshore cranes

– competence

– crane forerunners

– radio communications

– lifting gear

– access

In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with:

– loading deck

– resources

– lifting operations

– maintenance system

– annex to Norsok R-003N
