Submarine Cable Linking Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay to Cost USD 500 Mln

Brazil’s Communication Minister Paulo Bernardo announced that the submarine cable project linking Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, that will cost about US$500 million, should be ready in 12-15 months, BN Americas informed.

According to Bernardo, the majority shareholders are Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay with equal participation.

The cable route is planned to run from the US, through the Brazilian cities of Fortaleza and Santos, the Uruguayan city of Maldonado and Las Toninas in Argentina.

The Communication Minister expects the building process to start in early 2013.
