Subsea 7 lands more work from Aker BP

UK-based subsea engineering, construction and services company Subsea 7 has been awarded contracts by Aker BP for the Skogul and the Valhall Flank West projects in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The two contracts announced by Subsea 7 on Friday are equivalent to a sizable award. The company defines a sizable contract as being between $50 million and $150 million.

Aker BP on Friday submitted the plans for development and operations for three fields offshore Norway, including Skogul and the Valhall Flank West. The third PDO is for the Ærfugl field.

The Skogul project is located 220 km northwest of Stavanger. Subsea 7 said that this EPCI project is a long-distance tie-back to Alvheim FPSO via Vilje South field, using pipe-in-pipe technology. Project management and engineering will start immediately with offshore operations scheduled in 2019.

The Valhall Flank West EPCI project comprises a 4 km tie-back to the Valhall Center including an umbilical and riser system. Offshore operations will start in 2018 with completion in 2019.

Earlier this week, Subsea 7 was awarded a substantial contract from Aker BP on behalf of the Skarv Unit for the Ærfugl gas field development, located approximately 210 km west of Sandnessjøen in the Norwegian Sea.

This EPCI contract is a long-distance tie-back involving the application of Subsea 7’s Electrically Heat Traced Flowline (EHTF) technology for the 21 km tie-back to the Aker BP-operated Skarv FPSO.
