Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon Project Raises Concerns

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) said that the project could have an impact on the conservation areas in the Bay, according to Building.co.uk.

NRW and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) added that they are worried over the lack of planned monitoring of the effects on the marine mammals and the feeding stock of the birds.

Another concern brought up by a property owner is the financial viability of the lagoon. Tidal Lagoon Power was quoted as saying: “These concerns need to be addressed by the putting in place of a significant financial bond to be provided by a bank or other reputable institution.”

The Company also said that it is revising a number of its environmental plans in response to the issues raised in the planning process.
