TAQA worker dies at Harding platform

TAQA has informed that one worker died in an accident aboard its Harding platform in the UK sector of the North Sea early this morning.

The TAQA employee fell overboard during a maintenance activity on the platform. He was recovered from the sea by a support vessel and transferred to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Shetland by helicopter, but has subsequently died.

All other 108 people on board the Harding platform have been accounted for and are safe. The installation is owned and operated by TAQA and is located 320 kilometres north-east of Aberdeen. 

Police Scotland is investigating the cause of the accident. In a statement issued on its website, Police Scotland said that the deceased was 62 years old, and that the investigation is currently being treated as a work-related death.
