Technip Norge Wins Hywind Marine Operations Contract
Statoil has awarded a contract for marine operations at the 30MW Hywind Scotland Pilot Park to Technip Norge AS.
Technip’s scope of work includes the transportation of substructures for the floating wind farm from Spain to Norway, and preparations for the installation of top sections and generators. Technip will also be responsible for towing, mooring operations and connecting of the wind turbines.
The floating wind farm will be located 30 kilometers off the coast of Aberdeenshire, northeast Scotland. It will consist of five 6MW Siemens turbines, anchored in waters exceeding 100 meters of depth.
Technip’s operating center in Oslo will carry out project management and all the necessary engineering. Offshore work is expected to be completed in 2017.
Odd Strømsnes, CEO of Technip Norge, said: “We are proud to have been awarded such a prestigious contract with Statoil. This confirms Technip’s expertise in complex marine operations and our strong leadership within the floating SPAR technology.”
Technip says the contract win is the result of a successful cooperation between the two companies on the Hywind Demo project and the installation of the world’s first floating wind turbine off Norway in 2009.
