Following the launch of plan for development and operation of the Snorre expansion project on Thursday, Statoil has awarded contracts to oilfield services providers TechnipFMC and Subsea 7.

Snorre is located in the Tampen area of the North Sea and has been producing oil and gas since August 1992. The life of Snorre A was originally expected to last until 2011–2014. With this new plan, the Snorre field is expected to produce beyond 2040.

TechnipFMC has been awarded an engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) contract, which covers the delivery of subsea production systems and includes six subsea templates and subsea production equipment.

Hallvard Hasselknippe, President Subsea Projects at TechnipFMC, commented: “TechnipFMC has delivered subsea equipment to Snorre since the field started production. We are happy to continue supporting Statoil on the Snorre field, extending the production for another 20 years.”

Subsea 7 has been awarded a substantial contract for the Snorre expansion project, defined as being between $150 million and $300 million.

The engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract includes Subsea 7’s Pipeline Bundle technology, which contains all flowlines and control umbilicals necessary for operation.

According to Subsea 7, the project features three Pipeline Bundles: West, East and North. Production of the Pipeline Bundle system will take place at Subsea 7’s fabrication facilities at Wick, Scotland. Project management and engineering will start immediately at Subsea 7’s offices in Stavanger, Norway and Aberdeen, Scotland. Offshore operations will take place in 2019 and 2020.

Phil Simons, Subsea 7’s Vice President North Sea and Canada, said, “This award demonstrates the versatility and economic benefit Subsea 7 can offer through its unique Pipeline Bundle technology, where all service lines are integrated in a single product and installed using our Controlled Depth Tow Method.”
