TechnipFMC Expands Footprint in Saudi Arabia

TechnipFMC has broken ground on its new manufacturing, aftermarket and training facility in Dhahran in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia.

The 52,500-square-meter facility greatly expands TechnipFMC’s footprint in Saudi Arabia with a major investment and 140 new jobs focusing on Saudi talents.

The new facility will offer a range of manufacturing, aftermarket and training capabilities in-country, supporting the full TechnipFMC portfolio with its technology and integrated systems in the drilling, completion, production, measurement and pressure control activities.

“First, we are making a commitment to Saudization and localization,” TechnipFMC Surface Technologies President Richard Alabaster said at the recent groundbreaking ceremonies.

“Second, we are increasing our capacity to meet the challenge of the upcoming rise in activity planned within Saudi Aramco,” Alabaster said. “Third, we want to have the capabilities in-country to bring the full scope of our Surface Technologies portfolio and integrate in a way that makes the economics of Saudi Aramco’s projects much more favorable.”

Alabaster said he expects the initial investment in the new facility will grow as new capabilities are developed in-country that will allow TechnipFMC to not just supply the local Saudi market but also export from Saudi Arabia.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony was Saudi Aramco’s Industrial Development and Strategic Supply Department Manager and head of the IKTVA localization program, Abdallah Al Thaaly, Nayef Al Ghafel, Drilling and Workover Services Department Manager; Rami Saleh, Drilling Technical Department Manager; Hamoud Al-Shammari, Offshore Drilling Department Manager; and other Saudi Aramco officials. Also attending was Alex Campbell, General Manager TechnipFMC Saudi Arabia.
