Teco, China Steel Team Up for Taiwanese Offshore Wind

Teco Electric & Machinery has officially established a joint venture with China Steel (CSC) in order to produce offshore wind turbines.

The joint venture is to tackle Taiwan’s 4,000 MW installed offshore wind capacity target by 2030.

According to Taiwanese media, Teco will contribute by integrating key wind power turbine components, while CSC will bring production of steel structures to the table.

“The company is to build its first test wind turbine with a capacity of 5MW in Taichung Harbor by the end of this year, in preparation to vie for the nation’s offshore wind farm business, valued at hundreds of billions of [New Taiwan] dollars,” Teco said in a statement.
