Teekay Names One More Samba Class Shuttle Tanker

Sertanejo Spirit is one of new Samba Class tankers to operate for BG in Brazil under 10-year time-charters. The high-spec, DP2 shuttle tanker is designed for offshore loading and is more efficient and eco-friendly than any of her predecessors.

Key features include:

  • Bow Loading System (BLS) for loading and discharging with Dynamic Positioning (DP) – for maximal safety
  • Improved hull shape and thruster technology – for minimal fuel consumption
  • Ballast water treatment system and increased cargo tank pressure (CVOC, KVOC) – to further minimize the impact on the environment

Each vessel of the Samba Class (Bossa Nova Spirit, Samba Spirit, Lambada Spirit and Sertanejo Spirit) was named to reference the Brazilian culture and lifestyle. Sertanejo is a classic music style that had its origins in the countryside of Brazil in the 1920s.
