The order includes an option for two more chemical/product/biofuels, Terntank said in its statement.

The newbuilds are designed by Kongsberg and they will be in operation in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea in 2021.

Vessels will be developed from the experience of the previous Avic Series with additional improvements to reduce environmental impacts.

Terntank’s new vessels will significantly reduce the carbon footprint and environmental impacts in the supply chain with LBG/LNG powered engines, hybrid battery systems and on-shore power.

The new-builds are capable to operate with liquefied biogas (LBG). The vessels will be equipped with new electric power supply system including battery pack, shore-power connection and bow thruster drive (hybrid). Energy consumption and emissions are further reduced with the latest digital solutions for operational optimization, Terntank said.
