Texas: LNG, CNG sales for transport rising

The use of natural gas as fuel for vehicles in Texas has continued to rise, according to motor fuel tax figures from the Texas Comptroller.

The figures show that Texas natural gas sales for vehicles continue to climb, with tax collections as of August 31 up 79 percent over the same period last year, and have quadrupled compared to two years ago, the Texas Natural Gas Foundation revealed in a statement.

State Representative Jason Isaac, President of the Texas Natural Gas Foundation said the tax revenue from sales of compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas motor fuel totaled $4.3 million as of August 31, the end of the state’s fiscal year.
