The Netherlands: Fugro N.V. Lifts an Award

Fugro N.V. has won the Erasmus Innovation Award 2010-2011 for the most innovative company in the Netherlands. In the press release from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, the following is stated:

“The jury notes that Fugro N.V. distinguishes itself through its forward looking vision and by offering integrated, innovative solutions. To achieve this, the organisation has put innovation centre stage and has placed a strong focus on stimulating new ideas and concepts in support of future growth. Furthermore, the top management is constantly involved with innovation in its broadest sense. The jury praises this bold attitude and innovative approach, resulting in break-through solutions for its clients.

“A strength of Fugro is recognising synergy in innovations”, according to the jury. “A good example is a highly accurate GPS based positioning system that was developed as a sideline, but is now applied in almost all projects due to the effectiveness and efficiency of this system. Though this system forms the basis for all these developments, the application in projects is often quite specific and different.” In addition Fugro N.V. works extensively with external parties on fundamental research and the innovations are strongly client focused.

The researchers Prof.dr. Justin Jansen, Prof.dr. Henk Volberda, Prof.dr. Frans van den Bosch and Dr. Michiel Tempelaar of the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University stated “Fugro N.V. demonstrates that management, organizational and working environment aspects and cooperation with external parties contribute to sustainable renewal of the organization.”
