The Netherlands: MV Julia Sails into Offshore Wind Industry

The former Fastnet Line ferry Julia has sailed into the new life as a floating dormitory for offshore wind farm workers.

The 30-year-old ship, with capacity for 1,860 passengers will sail to the Netherlands for major refit, where C-BED, the company that acquired the vessel, will rename her Wind Perfection, before she takes up a charter with Siemens next October.

Use of a floating hotel will save Siemens valuable time and money on daily transfer of workers.

The MV Julia has been used as a ferry by Fastnet Line. It was hoped to put the vessel back on her route this year, but the Fastnet Line went into receivership last month, after which they have sold her for EUR 5 Million to C-BED.
