Thenamaris Orders Aframax Pair

Athens-based ship manager Thenamaris has placed an order for two 111,900 dwt Aframax tankers with Japanese shipbuilder Sumitomo Heavy Industries.

Based on the company’s data, the two newbuildings are slated for delivery in 2020 and will be flagged in the Marshall Islands.

The price of the duo was undisclosed.

Thenamaris is currently overseeing the construction of seven newbuildings, which include two Suezmax tankers being built by Hyundai Samso Heavy Industries, three Aframax crude carriers taking shape at Sumitomo and two LPG carriers being constructed at Hyundai Mipo Heavy Industries.

Six 2017-built Aframaxes have joined the company’s fleet so far this year.

The company’s total fleet comprises 89 managed vessels, including 60 tankers, 19 bulk carriers, and three container vessels, along with three LNG and three LPG carriers from Thenemaris LNG.
