This Year’s SMW Show to Focus on People, Ideas and Opportunities

The 9th Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), taking place from 6 to 11 April 2014, will be lined up with activities for everyone, from the industry players to the general public.

This Year's SMW Show to Focus on People, Ideas and Opportunities

Driven by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), SMW will feature 29 events, the biggest show since its inception in 2006. The exciting line up of events are organised by MPA, key local and international maritime players.

Mr Andrew Tan, Chief Executive, MPA, said, “This year’s SMW has close to 30 events, built around the theme of People, Ideas and Opportunities. We have put in more efforts to reach out to the public, especially the young, through fun and exciting outreach activities. With Singapore’s strategic location, SMW also provides a one of its kind business platform for companies to access new market in the region and beyond.

Last year’s SMW saw some 100,000 participants. We are confident that this year’s event will be as successful as previous runs. The continuing growth of SMW shows strong interest in our maritime sector.”

To raise awareness to the exciting career opportunities, MPA and its partners will intensify their efforts to profile the industry and promote manpower development. To inject vibrancy to the event, more youths and students will be involved in SMW by co-organising career talks and as guides for selected public outreach activities.

For the maritime industry, SMW is an ideal platform to exchange ideas and discuss issues or developments pertinent to the industry. The variety of events at this SMW showcase Singapore’s thought leadership on maritime issues.
