Three Crew Injured in Tanker Engine Blast

Three crew members were seriously injured in a blast on board Thailand-flagged product tanker  Chao Anoma on Saturday in the Andaman sea.

According to Phuket news, the blast did not disable the vessel, however, the vessel diverted its course heading for  Phuket, Thailand, for assistance and repairs.

The 4,999 dwt vessel was sailing from Tanjung Pelepas Malaysia to Yangon Myanmar when the explosion blasted from the vessel’s engine room.

A helicopter of the Thai Navy was dispatched to the scene and evacuated the injured crew to a hospital in Phuket.

The cause of the explosion is yet to be determined and an investigation into the case has been launched.

The 1995-built product tanker is managed by Ama Marime Co Ltd from Bangkok.
