Three FPSO Contractors Bidding for Petrobras’ ‘Green Turtle’ Unit
Three contractors are competing in a race to win an FPSO contract award from the Brazil’s state-run oil company, Petrobras.
According to Bloomberg, which cited sources close to the matter, the companies in question are Dutch SBM Offshore, Japan’s Modec and Norwegian BW Offshore.
The floating, production, storage and offloading unit would be deployed at the Petrobras’ Tartaruga Verde field, formerly Aruanã accumulation, in the Campos basin.
Tartaruga Verde, according to Petrobras, holds 230 Million Barrels of Oil Equivalent. Tartaruga Verde is located 127 km from Macaé, off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, at a water depth of 976 meters and total depth of 2993 meters, with oil/water contact (OWC) verified at -3123 meters.
Bloomberg further reports that first oil from the field is scheduled for 2017.
