DSME Bags USD 595 Million Worth Drillship Order

VANTAGE Drilling has placed an order with South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for the construction of a new drillship. According to the DSME’s regulatory filing from July 19, the order is estimated to be worth around $595 million.

Cosco Orders Four Vessels from NACKS (China)

Cosco Shipping’s Hong Kong subsidiary has placed an order for four multipurpose vessels with Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS), SinoShip news portal reports.

Survey Ship HMS Echo Finds 18 Wrecks in Remarkable Mission (Libya)

The waters off Libya have provided rich pickings in one of the most fruitful periods of survey work ever carried out by the Royal Navy in recent years. In ten days’ work the Devonport-based survey ship found a string of sunken obstacles and wrecks – including what is believed to be a sunken amphibious ship from the Gaddafi era – in the waters of the capital Tripoli and the port of Al Khums.

Scorpio Bulkers to Construct Up to 14 Dry Bulk Vessels

Scorpio Bulkers Inc. announced yesterday that it has reached agreements with three yards in China to construct a minimum of 11 and up to 14 newbuilding vessels designed for the carriage of dry bulk commodities.
