1. UK Seabed Resources Applies for Approval of Plan of Work for Exploration for Polymetallic Nodules

On 8 February 2013, the International Seabed Authority received an application for approval of a plan of work for exploration for polymetallic nodules in the Area from UK Seabed Resources Ltd., a private company. The application is sponsored by the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

2. McDermott Acquires Subsea Engineering Company DeepSea (UK)

McDermott International, Inc. announced that certain of its subsidiaries have entered into an agreement in which McDermott has acquired all of the outstanding shares of the DeepSea operating companies. Terms of the purchase are not being disclosed.

3. Saipem Bags USD 1.1 Bln Offshore Contracts

Saipem has been awarded new E&C Offshore contracts in North and West Africa for a total value of approximately $1.1 billion.

4. Heerema’s Deepwater Construction Vessel Aegir Arrives in The Netherlands for Final Outfitting

Heerema Marine Contractors’ new Deepwater Construction Vessel Aegir, one of the largest deepwater construction vessels in the world, is expected to arrive in Rotterdam today for final outfitting.
