VIDEO: Construction of West of Duddon Sands OWF 

West of Duddon Sands Offshore Windfarm, a project which is a joint development between ScottishPower Renewables and DONG Energy, is currently under construction in the East Irish Sea, approximately 14 km from the nearest coast on Walney Island, Cumbria.

UK: South Boats and Seacat Services Ink GBP 10 Mln Order 

Seacat Services, the class leading offshore wind transfer vessel operator, and South Boats IoW, the UK’s foremost manufacturer of wind farm crew transfer vessels, have signed a £10m, three workboat deal.

PNE Acquires Three German Offshore Wind Projects from BARD 

PNE WIND AG has acquired three offshore projects in the North Sea through its subsidiaries “Atlantis” I to III from BARD Engineering GmbH. The projects have been developed so far from the previous owner, and they are currently in the planning approval process at the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH).

UK: Scarborough Enters into Offshore Wind Industry 

The first offshore wind support vessel ever to be based in Scarborough harbour took up its berth at the weekend. The vessel’s arrival marks the start of what Yorkshire’s business community predict will be a brand new industry for the coastal area, which in the longer term is set to bring a wealth of benefits to the local and regional economy through direct investment, jobs and demand for supporting industries.

DBB Jack-Up: Dock-Laying Ceremony at Nordic Yards (Germany) 

At Nordic Yards a 390-tonne section of a new wind turbine service jack-up vessel was laid down in the Wismar dock today as scheduled, marking a further milestone in the building of the 80 metre long and 32 metre wide ship. The vessel was ordered last year by the Danish company DBB Jack-Up Services for the purpose of servicing offshore wind farms.
