Trump Turns to Scotland Again

US billionaire Donald Trump has confirmed the acquisition of £35 million Turnberry Golf Course located in Turnberry, South Ayrshire, from Dubai-based Leisurecorp group, despite saying he will switch focus to a new project in Ireland.

Trump Turns to Scotland AgainIn February 2014, Trump lost a court battle against the Scottish Government’s decision to approve a wind turbine development off the coast of his resort in Aberdeenshire. The tycoon claimed that the wind turbines would ruin the view from his golf course.

Earlier government reports have identified water close to Trump’s new resort as having potential for wind energy development.

Fergus Ewing, Scotland’s energy minister, said that the current planning guidance does not contain offshore wind farm plans for the area, but he did not want to exclude the possibility of development in the future, according to the Scotsman news site.
