TSTT to Connect Trinidad and Tobago with Submarine Cable

According to the TeleGeography, TSTT, a majority state-owned telecoms provider, announced that that they will install an independent submarine fibre-optic cable to improve inter-island connectivity and broadband services between the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago.

Additionally the company announced that the net profit has increased by 131% for the financial year ending 31 March 2012.

The company made TTD91.7 million (USD14.0 million), compared to the TTD39.6 million during the year 2010/2011.

Company’s Chairman Everald Snaggs stated that the profit was increased by 3.2% by reduction in operating costs, particularly staff costs.

TSTT also announced a 25% increase in customer growth.
