Turkey Receives Q-Flex LNG Cargo from RasGas

RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) announced that it successfully delivered a spot sale liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo to EgeGaz at the Aliaga Terminal in Turkey.

The cargo was delivered aboard RasGas long-term chartered Q-Flex vessel the Al Utouriya. While deliveries of LNG from RasGas to EgeGaz began in 2009, this latest shipment is the first cargo ever delivered to EgeGaz using a Q-Flex vessel.

RasGas Marketing and Shipping Executive, Khalid Sultan R. Al Kuwari, said: “The delivery of this first cargo by one of our long-term chartered Q-Flex ships into Turkey is a significant achievement for both RasGas and the State of Qatar. It is a demonstration of our operational versatility and capability for delivering into Turkey. It also reinforces RasGas’ reputation for providing a secure and reliable supply of LNG across most consuming regions.”

Shipping is a vital link in the RasGas LNG supply chain, ensuring secure and reliable delivery to its customers around the world. The RasGas LNG fleet currently contains 27 vessels, including 1 Q-Max (with an LNG cargo-carrying capacity of 266,000m3) and 12 Q-Flex tankers (between 210,000m3 and 217,000m3). These huge vessels allow more LNG to be transported per journey, lowering the transportation cost per unit of LNG and enhancing RasGas’ flexibility to meet global demand in the future.
