Two directors step down from Gulf Marine board

Two non-executive Directors have stepped down from the Board of Gulf Marine Services (GMS), a provider of self-propelled self-elevating support vessels (SESVs) serving the offshore oil and gas industry.

GMS said on Tuesday that two departing members of the board are independent non-executive Director Mike Straughen and non-executive Director Richard Dallas. The changes are effective as of January 1, 2017.

Simon Heale, Chairman of the Board of Directors, GMS, said: “On behalf of the board I would like to thank Mike Straughen and Richard Dallas, who both joined GMS at the time of our IPO in 2014, for their valuable contribution to the Group.  Their wealth of experience and sound stewardship has been much appreciated throughout their time with us.”

Straughen joined the board of GMS in February 2014. He is also a non-executive Director of Core Laboratories and three privately owned oilfield services businesses. He was previously the CEO of the Engineering Division at Wood Group, retiring from the company in 2014 after seven and a half years. He was with AMEC for 25 years and was recently a member of the UK Government’s Offshore Wind Cost Reduction Task Force. He was also a member of the Scottish Government’s Energy Advisory Board from 2013 to 2014.

Dallas joined the board of GMS in February 2014. He is currently a Managing Director of Gulf Capital, which he joined in 2007. He previously served as Managing Director of Oryx Capital International and as a partner of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
