Two Ukrainian Sailors Found Dead on board Ship in Istanbul

Two Ukrainian sailors have been found dead on board a Maltese-flagged ship that arrived for maintenance on Wednesday to Istanbul’s Desan shipyard.

The two sailors, both reported to be in their mid-thirties, were found dead in their rooms, according to the ship’s captain, Turkish daily the Hurriyet writes citing a statement from the shipyard.

In addition, the yard officials said that the deaths are not believed to be linked to the maintenance operations, as no such activities are performed at the yard during nighttime.

The cause of the workers’ deaths is being investigated by the local authorities.

Neither the name of the ship nor its type have been disclosed yet.
