U-Ming Inks Deal for Two 81,500 dwt Bulkers

Singapore-based ship owner U-Ming Marine Transport has signed a contract for the construction of two 81,500 dwt bulk carriers.

According to the company, the new vessels will be built by Japanese shipbuilder Oshima Shipbuilding.

The price tag and the particulars of the new bulkers have not been disclosed.

The news comes only two months after U-Ming’s latest fleet expansion which saw the company take delivery of a 188,000 dwt bulk carrier M/V Cape Success, built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

M/V Cape Success features a length of 299.8 meters and a width of 47.5 meters.

U-Ming has been ordering new fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly vessels at low prices since 2010, despite the current situation in the bulk shipping industry.
