UASC Orders Reefers for New North Europe – US East Coast Service

Middle Eastern container carrier United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has ordered 3,500 reefer containers for its newly launched North Europe – US East Coast (NEU1) service.

The service consists of a weekly sailing making five direct port calls in North Europe to the principle ports of Le Havre, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Southampton and Bremerhaven and four direct port calls on the US East Coast to the ports of New York, Norfolk, Charleston and Savannah.

”As an emerging global carrier that places customer service at the very heart of our operations, we are continuously exploring enhanced geographical reach and improved products, whilst always safeguarding reliability and service excellence,” said Jørn Hinge, President and CEO at UASC.

”The US East Coast markets provide a significant opportunity for UASC and its customers and these new service offerings mark an important step in UASC’s evolution as well as giving a sense of our longer term aspirations.”

Following the recent delivery of 2,000 new reefer units, UASC also announced an additional order of 3,500 reefer containers with reefer technology provided by Daikin.

”In terms of quality, performance and reliability, our latest reefer order comprises one of the industry’s most eco-efficient and reliable units,” Gareth Madsen, Head of Reefer Management at UASC said.

”The second phase of new reefer units will support the growth of existing services and enhanced geographic access following new partnership with CMA CGM and Hamburg Süd to enter the North Atlantic trade, linking Northern Europe with the United States East Coast.”
