UK: 2H Offshore Hosts Wellhead and Conductor System Response Forum

UK: 2H Offshore Organises Wellhead and Conductor System Response Forum

A number of wellhead system response and design issues have been raised in recent years, instigated from drilling in new geographical locations or with new equipment.

These issues are not well understood across the industry, but have relevance to many Operators. 2H Offshore has been involved in evaluating these design issues with a number of Operators, but the learnings from these projects have not always been effectively transmitted from one project to the next or one Operator to the next.

On March 21st and 22nd 2012, 2H Offshore held a Wellhead and Conductor System Response Forum at the Palm Court Hotel in Aberdeen.

The forum provided a platform for wellhead and conductor system experiences to be shared and also enabled a common understanding of the challenges faced across the offshore industry. Representatives from BG, BP, Maersk Oil, Shell, Statoil, Total and Woodside along with 2H employees from Houston, Perth, Woking and Aberdeen offices attended. 2H engineers gave presentations on recent experiences of wellhead system design from a theoretical perspective and 5 Operators delivered presentations on practical experiences of wellhead and conductor systems.

Over the 2 day period, there was full and frank discussion of the subject matter, including some excellent lessons learned highlighting the challenges, potential pitfalls and different ways to tackle them. One client commented, “The forum has been hugely valuable in bringing industry issues and learnings into focus for us all, and we appreciate 2H’s proactive approach on this subject”.
