UK: AF Gruppen to get more decom work from ConocoPhillips

AF Gruppen, one of the largest civil engineering and construction companies in Norway, has received notice that ConocoPhillips UK Limited intends to enter into a frame agreement for the future removal and disposal of up to seven platforms in the Southern North Sea.

According to Oslo Stock Exchange filing on Monday, the frame agreement includes engineering, preparation, removal, and disposal (EPRD) of up to seven satellite platforms.

AF Gruppen said that the total tonnage of the satellite platforms was approximately 10.000 tons. The platforms would be removed within the next ten years.

Morten Grongstad, CEO of AF Gruppen, said: “AF Gruppen has extensive experience with offshore EPRD projects, and this agreement fits well with our capacity and expertise. We are delighted with the confidence shown in us by ConocoPhillips.”

Similarly, AF Gruppen received a notice in April that ConocoPhillips intended to enter into a contract for the removal and disposal of platforms connected to the Ekofisk field in the North Sea. The company then said it would work on Ekofisk as a subcontractor to Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC).

In late August, Bergen Group was awarded a framework contract by AF Offshore Decom for delivery of subcontractor services connected to decommissioning and disassembly of topside structures on Ekofisk.
