UK: Cathelco Seafresh to Supply Reverse Osmosis Desalinators for Jurong’s FSRU Project

Cathelco Seafresh to Supply Reverse Osmosis Desalinators for Jurong's FSRU Project

Cathelco Seafresh are supplying reverse osmosis desalinators for the Khannur, an LNG carrier owned by Golar LNG of Norway which is being converted to a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) at the Jurong Shipyard in Singapore.

After conversion, the vessel will be renamed the West Java FSRU and installed at a location in Jakarta Bay, Indonesia where it will be operated by PT Nusantara Regus

Two Cathelco Seafresh ‘Ton’ units will be installed on the vessel, each with the capacity to produce 40 tonnes of fresh water per day. Fully automatic in design, they incorporate water quality sensing systems which test the product water electronically. Pure water is passed to a holding tank, while any which does not reach the standard is rejected and sent overboard.

Another order has come from Jaya Shipbuilding who are building a new 78.2m anchor handling/offshore support vessel for Java Marine Lines.

Cathelco Seafresh are supplying two H2012 units which will each provide a daily output of 5 tonnes of potable water for drinking, cleaning and domestic purposes.

H20 desalinators are ideal for the requirements of small to medium sized commercial vessels. The units for the tugs are equipped with carbon filters which remove dissolved gases and improve the taste of the product water. They are also being fitted with ultra-violet sterilisation units to ensure that the water is completely free from bacteria or parasites when it is held in the vessel’s storage tanks.

Seafresh Desalinators was acquired by Cathelco Ltd in 2010 and now benefits from the parent company’s global network of agents and installers which has led to an upsurge of orders from customers worldwide”, said Chris Bell, general manager.

Next year, Cathelco Seafresh will be re-designing the H20 series with the aim of achieving a smaller ‘footprint’, greater functionality and touch pad control. In addition, improved diagnostics will indicate when filter replacement is necessary and when membrane cleaning is required.

Cathelco Ltd known as world leader in the manufacture of marine pipework anti-fouling systems and ICCP hull corrosion protection systems. These systems can now be fitted in conjunction with Cathelco Seafresh desalinators to provide a complete equipment package.
