UK: EFC Receives Global API Manufacturing License

EFC Group, a leading designer and manufacturer of instrumentation, monitoring, controls and handling systems for the global oil and gas industry, has become one the first UK controls manufacturers to be awarded American Petroleum Institute (API) 16C and 16D monogram licenses.

This signifies EFC Group as an authorised designer and manufacturer of licensed API 16C: Choke Control systems and API 16D: Surface Mounted BOP Stacks and Diverter Control Systems. The API licenses illustrate EFC’s integrity of product as well its robust quality assurance processes.

Bob Will, CEO EFC Group, said: “Providing high quality solutions is critical to all we do at EFC, this is cemented by our absolute commitment to safety and total transparency in our business delivery.

“Being awarded these licenses assures our clients that EFC product specifications and manufacturing processes meet this internationally recognised standard. We expect the award to significantly increase project demand for EFC’s well control and subsea solution divisions.”

In the wake of the 2010 Macondo incident prescriptive client procedures are being issued and regularly specifying API standards is becoming the purchasing norm. EFC Group immediately recognised the significance of these changes and began working to achieve the API licensing award to demonstrate its commitment to safety.

Mr Will continued: “Safety is at the forefront of our industry, this is underpinned by the ever increasing importance of third party certification and auditing. Standards such as the API manufacturing license provide valuable endorsement for clients, in some cases it is an absolute necessity for decision-makers before any contractual or tendering discussions are entered into.”

EFC Group invested £50,000 in preparation for the intensive 5 day API audit, resulting in the award of the monogram licenses.

The Group plans to target the newbuild market and conduct further BOP Control system product development, enhanced by health monitoring and remote access options supported by 24/7 service contracts. This will deliver preventative maintenance benefits, as well as future proofing BOP control systems for the anticipated API modifications to existing standards.

The API accreditation will help support an accelerated global growth plan, with the award illustrating a commitment to the market place for best practice and innovative application of technology.

Company turnover is projected to increase by 30% on last year and staff numbers expected to rise to over 100, an increase of over 20%, to deliver on the expected levels of new business.

EFC has international representation in Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Mexico and India, making the group well placed to service its global client network.
