UK: Endeavour Announces Spud of Tudor Rose Well

  • Business & Finance

Endeavour International Corporation today reported  that the Tudor Rose well in the Central North Sea block 14/30a was spud yesterday, on the 16th of November 2011.

The Tudor Rose oil accumulation was discovered in 1983 and encountered an 80 foot oil column within the Tertiary age Beauly Sands, but proper representative oil samples were not obtained. Latest analysis indicates that the accumulation contains over 500 mmbbls of oil in-place. The current well is being drilled 2.5 kilometers from, and at a similar elevation to the discovery well, with the primary objective of establishing the gravity and viscosity of the oil through proper testing. The well is expected to be drilled to approximately 3,500 feet using the Transocean Sedco 704 semi-submersible rig. Drilling is anticipated to take approximately 20-30 days to complete subject to weather conditions and operational requirements.

Endeavour has a 20% working interest in the field which is operated by EnCore Oil plc.
