Gasol Appoints New Chairman

Gasol, the West Africa energy development company, announced that Cornelia Meyer, a highly experienced energy expert, has been appointed as Chairman of the Company to lead the next stage in Gasol’s development.

Ms. Meyer, whose appointment takes effect on 1st August 2012, brings significant sector-specific and international experience to Gasol, having held senior roles with Kimberly Clark Corporation, BP plc, the General Electric Corporation and Citibank.

Haresh Kanabar, who co-founded Gasol and served as its Chairman since 2009, will become a Non-Executive Director.

Separately, Osman Shahenshah will also step down as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with immediate effect.

Commenting on Ms Meyer’s appointment, Mr. Kanabar, said: “Our strategy of developing gas reserves in the Gulf of Guinea and supplying this gas to power projects in West Africa is reaching a pivotal stage. Cornelia’s very significant expertise in development economics, finance and geopolitics in the energy sector will prove invaluable during the future growth of the Company.”

Mr Kanabar also commented: “During his six year tenure on the Board, Osman has proved invaluable to the Company and we are grateful to him for devoting his significant expertise and efforts to the business over the years. Afren remains a supportive shareholder in Gasol, giving us great confidence in the future of the business.”

Paul Biggs, Gasol’s Senior Independent Director, said: “Haresh, a co-founder of Gasol, has been a great asset to the Company during his tenure as Chairman of the Board. We are grateful to him for his guidance, support, insight and expertise over the years and look forward to his on-going counsel as a Non-Executive Director.”
