UK: IMarEST to Hold “Drop in and Ask the Expert” Session at All-Energy

UK IMarEST to Hold Drop in and Ask the Expert Session at All-Energy

The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) is holding a “drop in and ask the expert” session on Tuesday 21 May, the eve of All-Energy 2013 at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC).

For offshore industries, such as renewables and oil and gas, meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) conditions have a major impact on the design of facilities and their subsequent operations. Therefore knowledge of wind, wave, current, water level and weather conditions at site-specific locations is essential to contribute to optimum design and efficient operations. Sound use of metocean data and information can assist with improved safety and reduced costs.

Metocean consultant Ian Leggett will be in Room 10 at AECC from 13:00 to answer all the questions possible about the value of understanding the importance of metocean data, analyses, information and procedures from new entrants to the offshore energy industry and to those with many years’ experience.

The drop-in session is relevant to project managers and engineers involved in offshore operations or design.

Ian Leggett recently retired from Shell after 30 years with the company managing data collection programmes, weather forecast services and the development of operational statistics and design criteria. He now runs his own metocean company offering independent advice, expertise and training to the oil and gas and marine renewables sectors. Ian is a Chartered Scientist, a Chartered Marine Scientist and a Chartered Marine Technologist.

There’s no charge for dropping in to talk to Ian Leggett and to pick his brains. All who do will obtain a voucher providing them with discount off the next IMarEST/SUT 3-day Metocean Awareness course.
