UK: International Federation of Hydrographic Societies Elects New Officials

Holger Klindt, Head of Strategy & Product Management for Signalis in France and Germany, has been elected Chairman of the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies (IFHS) in succession to Aubrey Price, Executive Director of C&C Technologies (South Africa); also elected as Vice-Chairman is Rob van Ree, Senior Lecturer on Hydrography at the Maritime Institute Willem Barentsz, Netherlands and Treasurer of Hydrographic Society Benelux.

A board representative of the German Hydrographic Society (DHyG) and a founder member of the German Hydrographic Consultancy Pool (GHyCop), Holger Klindt’s industry experience has included senior posts with the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar & Marine Research, Atlas Elektronik and the University of Kiel’s Centre for Applied Marine Research. He is currently a Council member of the German Institution of Navigation and an advisory member of the German Society for Marine Technology (GMT) in addition to retaining active links with the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA).

Comprising member organisations in Australasia, Benelux, Denmark, Germany, South Africa and the UK, the IFHS collectively represents the hydrographic interests of individual and corporate members drawn from over 70 countries while maintaining close working links with leading world survey authorities, including the inter-governmental International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) in Monaco. Its administrative headquarters are in Plymouth, UK.
