UK: Mainprize Offshore to add GBP 1.2 Milion Catamaran to Its Fleet

A new fleet member, i.e. £1.2 million custom-made catamaran, will be added to the Scarborough based family business, the Mainprize Offshore Ltd, Evening News informs.

The vessel named Dalby Derwent encompasses 17.5 metres long aluminium construction and its arrival to Scarborough Harbour is scheduled for next Tuesday.

The main mission of the vessel will be transporting technicians to and from the wind farm sites, delivering fuel and cargo, in addition to, inter alia, cleaning and painting the wind turbines.

“This is the largest new-build for Scarborough in over 20 years and I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends, crew, Northern Marine Electrics, Scarborough Marine Engineers, Scarborough Harbour, Stones Fuel Supplies, Danbrits Ship Management and Dalby Offshore Renewable, without whose support this would not have been possible,” Mr Mainprize said.

The first destination of the ship will be the Greater Gabbard wind farm site, off the coast of Suffolk, in partnership with Dalby Offshore Renewable. It is expected for the vessel to result in creation of seven to ten new work places ranging from full-time crew members to further office and shore-side logistic workers.

Pointing out that Scarborough has the potential of becoming a strategic base for the Dogger Bank Offshore Wind Farm Site, he added that:

“For each site there can be up to 20 wind farm service vessels required for the construction phase. Each vessel carries up to 12 passengers and between two and five crew, so the total personnel around the Scarborough port could be increased by up to 200 people. This will bring much-needed regeneration to the Scarborough businesses and support infrastructure.”
