UK Pelamis Founder Richard Yemm Appointed as CEO

The Board of Pelamis Wave Power has appointed founder and current Commercial Director, Richard Yemm, as Chief Executive Officer.

Richard will take up his new function from 1 June 2013 and replaces Per Hornung Pedersen who had been leading the company since September 2011. Per will remain as an advisor to the Board.

Richard founded Pelamis Wave Power in 1998 and has spent the last 15 years developing and commercialising the Pelamis machine, advancing the renewables industry and has become a recognized leader in wave energy. Under his leadership, Pelamis achieved the first generation electricity to the grid from offshore waves, Scotland’s first export order for wave energy technology, and the UK’s first sales for wave energy converters to utility companies.

I am delighted that Richard has accepted to take over as CEO, he has proven his ability to lead the company successfully and has been instrumental in driving our technology and the sector forward. The Pelamis machine continues to advance strongly and we are pleased with the continued support from our customers. Looking ahead, the ETI project that is enabling us to accelerate development the P2e machine is something we are all very excited about as it will truly anchor Pelamis as the wave power solution for the future”.
