Ultra Deep’s Picasso DSCV completes sea trials

Ultra Deep Solutions-owned diving support and construction vessel (DSCV) Picasso has completed all trials and will head down to Singapore to prepare for its long-term contract.

The vessel was mobilized to perform deep dive trials off Hong Kong earlier in January.

On Monday, January 22 Ultra Deep said via social media that the vessel completed deep diving trials off Hong Kong under the assistance from DNV GL.

According to the company, the diving support construction vessel will arrive in Singapore on February 7, 2018.

After reaching Singapore, the vessel will mobilize and head-over to the Gulf of Mexico-South America. Namely, Ultra Deep last December entered into a four-year contract for the DSCV Picasso.

Shel Hutton, Ultra Deep Solutions CEO, said: “This is our second vessel that has completed the deep dive trials. We have a very busy year ahead at UDS.

“Our group has two more vessels coming out in the next four to five months. Our main goals continue to remain the same. Produce outstanding ships at a competitive price.”

Picasso is the sister ship of the Lichtenstein and has a Twin Bell 300 MSW arrangement and Twin 18 men SPHL’s. The vessel is an MT design from Norway and is classed by DNV GL.

As for the company’s other newbuilds, the Van Gogh, the Andy Warhol, and the Ultra Deep Matisse DSCVs are expected to be delivered in 2Q 2018, 3Q 2018, and 1Q 2019, respectively.

In recent news regarding Ultra Deep, the company launched its newbuild DSCV Andy Warhol and decided to exercise an option with China Merchants Heavy Industry for a new dive support construction vessel, which will be a sister vessel of the Deep Matisse.
