Unique Maritime Group, one of the world’s leading integrated turnkey subsea and offshore solution providers, along with Coastal Zone and Waterways Management Section of Dubai Municipality showcased various tailor made solutions and products for hydrographic and met-ocean data collection during the conference.

On the last day of the conference, the participants had a field session where they enjoyed a live demonstration showcasing the deployment of high-tech survey equipments and the collection of marine data.

The demo included a Kongsberg EM 3002 Multibeam system, Simrad EA 400, TSS Gyro, TSS Motion Sensor and all related equipments including AADI RDCP (Resource Data Collection and Processing), fixed on a boat to simulate real time multibeam survey and data collection at sea.

Coastal Zone and Waterways Management Section presented an oral presentation on the topic ‘Dubai Coastal Zone Monitoring Programme’ on the second day of the conference. The presentation described the monitoring programme established within CWMS over the years for managing Dubai’s coastline effectively. This monitoring programme comprises of two offshore buoys equipped to measure waves, currents, meteorological parameters and water quality parameters, four nearshore stations to monitor waves and currents, one horizontal ADCP in creek to measure horizontal currents. Six tidal stations to record tide, one nearshore water quality station and one shore based meteorological station. Latest technologies like HF RADAR system, LiDAR, DGPS and video monitoring system are also used as part of monitoring programme.

As a UMG customer, we are happy to host this demonstration,” said Engineer Alya AbdulRahim Al Harmoudi, Head of Coastal Zone & Waterways Management Section, Environment Department of Dubai Municipality.

“Unique Maritime Group has successfully implemented many systems for Dubai Municipality. Their trained engineers have custom built solutions based on our specific requirements, trained our staff and have helped maintain the proposed equipments”, she continued.

Ian Huggins, Unique Maritime Group’s General Manager said, “Listening to customers is the key to success, and that is why the Middle East Hydrographic User conference has proven over the years to be the ideal platform to bring together all our stakeholders to exchange knowledge, address issues, and finally present new products and discuss innovative solutions to help everyone stay on top of their game.”

“Also, the live demos will provide our customers with an opportunity to better understand how to optimize the performance of their products, from various manufacturers, with the correct synchronization and experience hands on operation of a complete system. From a manufacturer’s point of view, it will provide their claim on the reliability and accuracy of their products, operating in high temperature environments. Finally, the demo will instill confidence with the user on the products supplied by UMG systems“, he continued.
