UK company Utility ROV Services (URS) and Cyprus-based EDT Shipmanagement have signed an agreement to provide boulder clearance services to the offshore renewable energy industry using their combined resources. The agreement is based on an initial one-year period with options for extension.

Patrick Crawford, Managing Director of URS said: “This agreement allows us to provide a fantastic vessel spread for our clients, whilst also giving the company access to other EDT vessels, where required.”

The two partners will utilise a utility ROV (UTROV) load bearing ROV system and the DP2 vessel EDT Kennedy. URS will deliver the combined services, whilst EDT will provide the vessel, ship management and all associated support relating to the vessel.

The services will be provided as a permanently mobilised spread, inclusive of UTROV Boulder Clearance system and Survey spread to provide a cost effective and highly productive boulder clearance spread to the UK and European Renewables market, the companies stated.

“URS have been looking to partner with a suitable vessel owner for some time, and we are pleased to enter this agreement with EDTSM. The EDT Kennedy is a perfect platform for the company, and EDT are well-established and highly respected in the vessel market. They have a shared vision of providing high quality services into the Renewables Market, at a cost base that is competitive, whilst delivering high productivity,” Crawford said.
