US DoE extends deadlines for clean energy projects loans

The Loan Programs Office at the US Department of Energy (DoE) has set new application deadlines for its Title XVII program that provides loan guarantees to accelerate the deployment of innovative clean energy technology.

The Title XVII loan program applies to a wide range of energy technologies, including advanced fossil energy, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and energy efficiency.

Hydrokinetic technologies, like tidal and wave, are eligible to apply for loans under renewable energy solicitations.

The next Part I application deadline is scheduled for January 18, 2017, with the extension of the effective period for Loan Programs Office’s (LPO) Paperwork Reduction Act for three years, allowing LPO to issue new Part I and Part II application deadlines into 2019.

LPO is currently accepting applications in response to the following open Title XVII solicitations:

  • Advanced Fossil Energy Projects Solicitation
  • Advanced Nuclear Energy Projects Solicitation
  • Renewable Energy and Efficient Energy Projects Solicitation

The projects that apply for loan guarantees under Renewable Energy and Efficient Energy Projects Solicitation must employ new or significantly improved technology as compared to commercial technology in service in the United States, and avoid, reduce, or sequesters anthropogenic emission of greenhouse gases, according to LPO.
